The city of Oslo awarded Cambi the important biogas plant contract on 2011. Oslo biogas plant is designed and manufactured to the highest specifications in the biowaste sector. The order includes design, installation and commissioning of a complete turnkey biogas plant to treat 50 000 t/a of food waste. In addition, the plant will produce approx. 27 000 t/a of nutritious biofertilizer to serve about 100 mediumsized farms.
The order also includes a facility to produce upgraded fuel gas for buses in Oslo. Biogas production is an effective measure to replace fossil fuels with renewable fuels. The new plant will put the Oslo-region in the forefront of environmental development. Replacing diesel with upgraded biogas to fuel 135 buses or similar vehicles will reduce fossil CO2 emissions by 10,000 tonnes a year. Biogas in buses means cleaner air and less noise for Oslo’s 500 000 residents.
